Rules
1.1 Loan Periods and Borrowing Limits
- Students may borrow up to 5 items including one short-term loan.
- Academic staff may borrow up to 7 items, including two short-term loans.
- Administrative staff and fee-paying members may borrow up to 4 items, but short-term loans will not be issued.
1.2 Returns and Renewals
- Materials must be returned on or before the due date to the circulation desk.
- Users can renew borrowed materials at the circulation desk, by email, or online (up to two times).
- Renewals are not allowed if the item is on hold by another user.
- Renewals after 7 days overdue are allowed only after paying the fine.
- Only two online renewals are permitted. The third renewal must be done in person at the circulation desk.
1.3 Holds and Recalls
- Users can request reservations at the circulation desk or through the online catalog. An email will be sent when the item is available.
- When a material is recalled, a notification is sent to the current borrower.
- Recalled items must be returned within 7 working days to avoid a fine.
- Held items will be available at the circulation desk for 3 days only.
1.4 Lost and Damaged Materials
- Lost or damaged materials must be reported immediately.
- If lost, users can replace the item with the same or the latest version, or be charged 1.5 times the actual price. Replacement must be done within one month.
- A thorough search must be done before billing an item as lost.
1.5 Fines
To ensure timely returns and availability, fines will be charged as follows:
- Nu. 5 per day for students and Nu. 10 per day for staff and fee-paying members.
- Fines must be paid in cash at the circulation desk. Users should sign or use Koha for record.
- Borrowing privileges will be suspended if fines are not cleared.
- All fines and charges are used solely for library improvements.
- Fines may be waived or reduced under exceptional circumstances:
- Illness
- Accident
- Hospitalization
- Library staff or system error
1.6 Lost and Found
- The library is not responsible for lost personal belongings or library cards.
- Items left in the library will be held temporarily at the circulation desk.
- If the owner is identifiable, staff will attempt to contact them.
- If the owner cannot be identified, the library holds no responsibility.
